Kevin F. Rooney joined the firm in 2006. He specializes in commercial litigation, including business litigation, real estate litigation, construction litigation and employment litigation.
Experience
Mr. Rooney is an experienced and versatile attorney with over ten years of extensive litigation experience and represents a variety of clients in diverse fields, including developers, employers, employees, consultants, brokers, corporate officers and other professionals and entities. Over his career, he has tried jury and bench trials in state and federal court, prepared and authored appellate briefs and argued scores of critical law & motion issues in matters ranging from breach of contract to misappropriation of trade secrets and unfair competition. Mr. Rooney also has valuable antitrust experience, working for Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton in Washington, D.C. and New York City from 2003-2006 on billion dollar plus antitrust litigation matters including Oracle’s hostile takeover of PeopleSoft. Mr. Rooney is an astute negotiator, recognizing his clients’ business and operational goals in litigation.
When it serves his clients’ business objectives, Mr. Rooney successfully crafts creative solutions that allow for cost-efficient resolution of matters through private negotiation, mediation, arbitration and other means of alternate dispute resolution.

- Obtained a significant pretrial settlement on behalf of a real estate development company against well funded defendants represented by a high-powered law firm alleging trade secret misappropriation and unfair competition.
- Successfully litigated a parking garage operator's allegations of breach of contract against a major hotel.
- Obtained judgment on behalf of a commercial landlord for breach of lease.
- Successfully co-chaired federal jury trial alleging violations of the Civil Rights Act.
- Successfully defended an employer facing allegations of unpaid commissions by a former employee.
